Unveiling the Future of Racing: Our Introduction to the SuperStars of the BRDC

As a watch brand deeply entrenched in the pursuit of precision and excellence, we constantly seek inspiration from fields that echo our values. As patrons of the British Racing Drivers Club (BRDC), last week we had the privilege of meeting the future titans of motorsport, the BRDC SuperStars. During our visit we exchanged insights, shared our passions, and explored the synergy between timekeeping and the pursuit of greatness.

BRDC Rising Stars

Meeting the BRDC SuperStars

Gathering at the heart of motorsport excellence, the BRDC Clubhouse at Silverstone race track, we were welcomed by a group of remarkable young racing drivers, each brimming with determination and ambition. Engaging in conversations that transcended the boundaries of racing, we delved into their perspectives on craftsmanship, precision, and the significance of Time Well Spent in their profession.

For the past 16 years, the BRDC SuperStars programme has focused on developing the most promising young British drivers across all classes of racing and sits alongside the Club’s introductory Young Driver programme; BRDC Rising Stars. To date, BRDC SuperStars has seen some of the most exceptional talent that exists on an international scale today in all categories up to and including Formula 1.

Created by Damon Hill OBE and in recent years closely overseen by Derek Warwick, both of whom are former BRDC Presidents, the programme has a strong record of results with SuperStars chalking up an impressive total of 384 wins, 1,558 podiums and 342 pole positions, with over 45 drivers becoming full-time professionals during their time on the programme.

The BRDC has a proven track record of selecting only the most promising individuals, with Lewis Hamilton MBE and Alex Lloyd being two particular success stories from the Rising Star scheme's history. From The Porsche Carrera Cup to Formula 3 from British GT to BTCC, the BRDC SuperStars will be in action throughout the season and are looking to bring in some very strong results - the future of British motor racing is in safe hands.
