The flagship model of the original Solent range, the Cardinal, is back in a revised iteration in this new collection.

The striking yellow and black of the have original has remained, but we’ve added a bit more pop for the Solent Timer. It’s a bright, vivid reprise of the Cardinal series, and has wonderful wrist presence, clarity and, dare we say it, an element of fun.

The Devil's in the detail

The dial, matte black, is surrounded by a brushed black-nickel metallic ring, which shimmers through beautiful anisotropic reflections, with a printed minute track in pristine white: simple and effective. On the dial surface, the hour bubbles, varying in size for easy orientation, have a large dot of luminous compound surrounded by a hairline of bright yellow paint.

Bold yellow is deployed in abundance on the rotating chapter ring, with a simple set of black printed numerals on the outer ring defining the timing points. A generous dot of lume adorns the 12 o’clock position, allowing traditional methods of timing to be carried out.

EMINENTLY WEARABLE

The case size of the Timer is a bold yet eminently wearable 42mm at bezel and, despite the additional complication of an internal mechanism for the chapter ring, remains a surprisingly slender 12mm, with a 22mm strap width.We’ve retained the strong case design from the original Solent, bespoke and aggressive.

The grippy crown also remains, but now there are two of them. Double-sided anti-reflective coating is standard on our watches now, but is improved with additional coatings to suppress more reflections and boost clarity. It all adds up to a watch that feels familiar, yet intrinsically new.
