The Devil's In The Detail

Following on from the Hadfield, the Futura features the same construction but rendered in opposing white with blue accents.

The honeycomb textured upper is a subtle reference to the pentagonal tunnel down which Dr. David Bowman walks down in Stanley Kubrick's inimitable film “2001: A Space Odyssey”. The polished ring leads down over the chamfered Roman numeral track, again with XI highlighted in orange, before a deep blue minute track with white printing leads into the multi-angled white dial. Applied steel hardware, matching hands and, for the Futura a white painted seconds hand with orange tip and orbital counterweight. All hands feature the same luminous compound as the two reference dots at 12 o’clock.

SPACE ODYSSEY

In Stanley Kubrick's film 2001: A Space Odyssey, the lead protagonist Dr. David Bowman walks down an octagonal tunnel - white, brightly lit; cutting edge set design for its era. We took this as inspiration for the hexagonal pattern for the top surface.

Case

The Astro is presented in a stainless steel case that is neither a square nor circle, but a squircle. Featuring a subtle curved quirk in every side of the Astro’s “squared” face - truly unique.

BEATING HEART

Behind the exhibition caseback lies the spectacular engineering marvel that is the Miyota 9039. This automatic calibre beats at 28,800 bph and offers a power reserve of 40+ hours.

Lume

The Astro features proprietary lume on both the dial and hands to aid low light time referencing.

LUGLESS DESIGN

The case of the Astro features a lugless design, measuring 38x38mm with recessed strap mounts hidden within the case. Keeping things surprisingly thin, the case features a tri-texture finish and a modest 10.65mm thickness.
